Safeguarding your Assets is our Priority
MidChains backs up private keys in an offline air-gapped machine setup with a specific software operating system. The offline air-gapped machine is isolated from the internet and authorized personnel are granted permission based access.
An additional security feature in our Custody Service that allows virtual asset withdrawals to be transferred to addresses (external) already added to our Custody’s whitelisted addresses.
The 3 Key Shares are stored in 3 separate physical locations: 2 of the key shares are stored in Intel® SGX regions in two separate geographic cloud locations and the 3rd key share is stored in a MPC device used to sign transactions, backed up and encrypted with a recovery passphrase that is stored in another secure cloud location.
MidChains proprietary and approved workflow authorization meets best practices to create a safe operations environment (TAP Rules). TAP is a rule engine that governs outgoing asset transactions. The TAP scans each outgoing transaction and its parameters (initiator, sum, type of transaction, etc.) to determine the appropriate action (allow, block, or additional approval). Using the TAP, MidChains set up approvals for transactions that must be met before signing the transactions.
